A short list, because there's not much
There is no login here, no gambling account, and nothing about your play. Last updated 27 July 2026.
Who is responsible
Stakes and Spades operates stakesandspades.com and is the data controller for the small amount of personal data described below. Write to privacy@stakesandspades.com about anything on this page.
What we collect
Technical logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data — IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser and device type, referring page. It is used to keep the site running and to spot abuse, and it is what any web server does by default.
Choices you make on the site. Your cookie preference and whether you collapsed the age notice bar are stored in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data removes both.
Aggregate page statistics. If analytics is active, it records which pages get read and roughly where visitors arrived from, in aggregate. We use it to decide what to review next, not to build profiles.
Anything you email us. Your address and whatever you write. The contact form composes a message in your own mail application and sends nothing to a server on this site.
What we never collect
No gambling account details, no payment information, no identity documents, no record of whether you opened an account after clicking a link, and no special category data. Affiliate tracking tells an operator that a visit came from us; it does not send us your account or your activity. If you email us documents or account numbers we will delete them rather than file them.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Technical logs and essential storage rest on our legitimate interest in operating a secure website. Analytics and any non-essential cookies rest on your consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time. Correspondence rests on our legitimate interest in replying to you.
How long it stays
Server logs are kept for a short retention period by our host and then discarded. Local storage entries stay in your browser until you clear them. Emails are kept while the matter is open and then deleted unless there is a reason to keep a record of a correction.
Who else sees it
Our hosting provider, as a processor. An analytics provider, if analytics is enabled and you consented. Nobody else — we do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and there is no advertising network embedded in these pages.
Following an operator link takes you to that company's own site, where their privacy policy applies and ours stops.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask for it to be corrected or erased, object to processing based on legitimate interests, ask us to restrict processing, and withdraw consent for analytics whenever you like. Email privacy@stakesandspades.com and we will respond within a month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
Children
This site is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not target under-18s and do not knowingly hold their data. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and it will be deleted.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
